VISITORS AND QUERIES
BY KAREN HANSEN
Joyce Hansen from Kimballton, Iowa visited the genealogy room, seeking information on Marius and Minnie KJER, Harl and Ella KJER, and Gilbert V. and Hazel KJER. We found obits for 5 of the Kjers buried at Cuppy’s Grove Cemetery and census records for the family. Coincidentally, Joyce Hansen is a cousin of mine through our Karstens lines and my father worked for Gilbert Kjer on the farm that had been owned earlier by Dad’s grandfather Henry Burmeister.
Charlotte and Ronald Elson from Ashland, Ohio visited. She is the daughter of Kit Burns of Walnut. They are interested in his ELSON and GARBER families, although they were not from Walnut and possibly were from Nebraska.
We have been working on a Francisco query for Stephanie Priddy of Blair, Nebraska. She especially wants to find the maiden name of Ann FRANCISCO, wife of Rev. John Francisco. Their sons David and James, and Elizabeth, wife of James are buried in the Layton Township Cemetery.
WGS member Marietta Petersen asked us to research the family of her neighbor Jeff Long. Gayle Stuart, Barb Butcher and I found census records, a Social Security death record, a military registration and Indiana marriages for the LONG, FISCUS, NORRIS, GRAVES, BONZER, and RIDELL families. He is also interested in his DANIELS and BRIERLEYS.
I have continued the search for more information on John Honeywell and his family. More of the finds are in the article, “John Grove Honeywell, Civil War Veteran” in this ACR.
