Taken From the Files of the Walnut Bureau of Days Long Past
Fifty-Five Years Ago
An Iowa man now at Lake Winnipeg, says it is awful cold up there. He says a few nights since he lighted a candle, undressed, jumped into bed and then attempted to blow out the candle; and was petrified to discover that the blaze was frozen stiff, and he had to break it off and put it in the washbowl to thaw out in order to extinguish it.
