WALNUT CLASS OF 1909
Front (L to R): Stella M. Preuninger, Leona Rose Sievers, Vera L. Sankey. Middle: Harry L. Taggart, Alma Johannsen, Frank J. Tierney. Back: Mabel Lucy Galvin, Edna Leona Hector.
BACCALAUREATE
The Baccalaureate sermon on “The Power of an Endless Life,” delivered last Sunday, was one of the richest sermons of its kind that the writer ever heard. The class should feel highly honored to have had the opportunity of hearing such a discourse. Reverend Cramer deserves the commendation of all who heard him. We hope to be able to have the sermon printed and presented to the class as memoriter of the occasion.
COMMENCEMENT
The Commencement Exercises will be held in the German Hall on Saturday evening, May 29th. Owing to an unusual expense, the fee for reserving seats must be raised from 10 to 15 cents. This is a very reasonable charge, considering the grade of talent offered in the person of Dr. Eastman who delivers the address of the evening. Seats will be reserved Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29, at Bruce’s Drug Store.
Listed on the program were Rev. A. O. Wright, giving the invocation; Dr. F.C. Eastman, giving the lecture “Limbo of Letters”; Supt. R. M. Lampman giving “A Parting Word”; and Rev. D. H. Cramer, giving the benediction. Music was provided by the girl’s glee club; a vocal solo by Miss Packard; and a vocal duet by Ruth Mickel and Ettabel Mick. (The Walnut Bureau, May 28, 1909, p. 1)
